about
‘Restless’ is the first of three singles from award-winning Americana/ Folk duo Roswell’s second studio EP, coming soon in February 2020.
Out on Friday, November 1, ‘Restless’ is part confessional, part protest song. It bridges the gap between a thirst for personal progress and dissatisfaction with world politics – touching on issues such as the UK’s economic crisis, climate change and mental health.
The track features stirring three-part vocal harmonies and energetic banjo, underpinned by an accompaniment of guitar, ukulele, mandolin, bass and percussion. It was recorded and produced by Dan Wilde at Gladeside Studio, Cambridge.
lyrics
Restless, from my fingers to my toes
Adrenaline is pumping, coursing through my veins.
I’m restless with the hope of something more,
For a struggle, for some wisdom, for a change.
I’m tired of this small-town mood, this station wagon town,
Where all the roads are dead ends and the only way is down.
But something more is calling to me, brighter than the past,
I’ve got to leave this place, oh, and I’ve got to leave it fast.
Restless, from my fingers to my toes
Adrenaline is pumping, coursing through my veins.
I’m restless with the hope of something more,
For a struggle, for some wisdom, for a change.
The government’s destroying things for young and for the old,
The poor are getting poorer and are left out in the cold.
A full-time job is not enough for survival anymore,
Millennials are desperate, still at home at 34.
Restless, from our fingers to our toes
Adrenaline is pumping, coursing through our veins.
We’re restless with the hope of something more,
For a struggle, for some wisdom, for a change.
We know so much, but how little we have learned.
Progress is slow, but the tables can be turned.
Anxiety is killing us, the papers are corrupt,
We drown ourselves in plastic while the budget’s being cut.
And Mother Nature’s meaningless to the world economy,
While the news is full of stories of police brutality.
Restless, from our fingers to our toes
Adrenaline is pumping, coursing through our veins.
We’re restless with the hope of something more,
For a struggle, for some wisdom, for a change.
For a struggle, for some wisdom, for a change.
